CCAT Welcomes Four New Board Members

CCAT has announced the appointment of four distinguished professionals to its board during the 2024 Annual General Meeting held in Perth. The new board members bring extensive expertise across transportation engineering, technology, academia, and policy sectors.

 

Mehdi MRWA

Mehdi Langroudi

Executive Director of Network Operations at Main Roads Western Australia

Mehdi is a transport executive with extensive experience and expertise expanding across many areas of the Transportation sector. As Executive Director of Network Operations, Mehdi is currently leading a progressive, multi-skilled directorate at Main Roads Western Australia with over 170 employees focused on improving the operations and performance of the metropolitan state road network in WA.  With a demonstrable track record of leadership and technical delivery at both private and public sectors internationally, Mehdi has a holistic understanding of transport planning, traffic engineering, design, construction and operations. Mehdi has a keen focus on data driven decision making and use of technology to operate the road network and deliver performance improvements which address congestion, and the safe, sustainable mobility of people and freight.

Head of Transformation Uncrewed at Airservices Australia

Luke is committed to supporting an integrated and thriving uncrewed aircraft and air taxi industry in Australia. At Airservices Australia, he leads the Uncrewed Services Integration transformation portfolio, focused on safely and efficiently integrating uncrewed aircraft and air taxis into Australia’s busy airspace alongside traditional aircraft operations. This highly innovative program underpins an open market, connected technology ecosystem, delivering 
world-leading digital and automated air traffic management capabilities to safely manage growth of the burgeoning uncrewed aircraft market.
Luke has a deep understanding of the importance of flexible and responsive regulatory frameworks that enable and support industry, having worked in senior management roles for 11 years at the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. He spearheaded initiatives in CASA to support emerging aviation technology industries, leading to CASA being recognised internationally as a forward-leaning regulator. He is well respected across government and industry and is known for his thought leadership, collaborative style and delivery of results. He is on the Board of Directors of the international Global UTM Association and is the 2024 recipient of the Australian Medal from the London based Honourable Company of Air Pilots for his work in aviation across the crewed and uncrewed aviation sectors.

Elli - UNSW

Elnaz (Elli) Irannezhad

Senior Lecturer, Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI), UNSW School of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Elnaz (Elli) Irannezhad is as a Senior Lecturer of transport engineering in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Elli's research contributes to the advancement of science in cross-disciplinary fields of logistics and transport engineering, modelling, automation, integration, and decarbonisation. Elli received her PhD in Transport Engineering from the University of Queensland (UQ) in November 2018. She served 3 years as Postdoctoral researcher at UQ and 1.7 years as Principal Engineer and Portfolio Leader of Future Mobility at the National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO). In March 2022, she joined the University of New South Wales on a full-time convertible tenure track combined research-teaching employment.  Elli’s professional journey encompasses significant roles within the transportation sector, including over seven years as a transport engineer and senior transport modeller in Iran before pursuing her PhD. These roles provided her with invaluable experience in client engagement and applying engineering expertise to real-world challenges. Her research trajectory highlights a steadfast commitment to research translation and industry collaboration.

 

Robert Giltinan

Robert Giltinan

Group Director of Policy & Public Affairs at the NRMA

Robert leads policy, advocacy, government, community and stakeholders, with oversight of external communications to support brand and reputation. Prior to joining the NRMA, Robert was an advisor to NSW Premier Mike Baird. Robert has been an interim CCAT Board member since September 2024.
